38 Weeks 3 Days
Still here. Still pregnant.
We’ve started trying natural (meaning “old wives tales”) “hurry it up, already” methods.
- Last night we went out for spicy food, and not the lame, Yankee spicy food that most northerners like, but the hot stuff B.
won’t touch. He told me I was nuts, but I ate a LOT of salsa that was little more than raw peppers chopped up. Nothing. - Afterwards, we walked all the way “downtown” and got ice cream. Maybe waddled is a better word. My back was very painful by the time we were done, but nothing contraction wise.
- I’ve been drinking red raspberry leaf iced tea in large quantities. Nothing.
- B. has been rubbing my swollen, ugly feet on the accupressure points that are supposed to start labor. My feet are very tender because of the swelling, but all that has come out of this is yelping.
And so on.
This morning my friend, false labor, came back, so I got up at about 5:15. I’ve been having mild but noticeable contractions every 30 minutes or so since 4:45. At least this is better timing than usual; my false labor usually happens between 11 PM and 4 AM. Don’t get excited.

Hey there beautiful,
You might just be trying to avoid ‘TMI’ but you seem to be over-looking one very significant old-wives-tale labor starters… that’s right, the old fashioned carnal knowledge way. We’ll keep the blog G rated but I just had to mention that good-old fashioned labor starter that rhymes with HEX.
XOXO pam

There is of course the other old wives tale labor starter… it involves stimulating the roof of your mouth… you figure out how.

Umm. I was trying to keep this g-rated. But seminal fluid based postgladins have been delivered; given my size this has been comical, but not especially effective!
