In case there were any doubt…

Friday, September 29th, 2006 by Stacie

B. makes this weird clicking noise in his throat. I’ve never heard anyone else make it, though he assures me his father does it as well. Well, if there were any doubt that F. was his daughter…she makes the same weird noise. If J. starts to make it I’ll be outnumbered!

Nursing in Public

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006 by Stacie

Despite rumors that people can be nasty when you nurse in public, so far I’ve not had so much as a single look, and I’ve nursed:

  • In the pediatrician’s waiting room
  • In the pediatrician’s examination room

  • In the photographer’s studio

  • In the office at St. Paul Catholic

  • In Papaya Patch (a store downtown)

  • In church

  • In a restaurant

  • Here

Sleeping and Other Things

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006 by Stacie

Though I hesitate to say it for fear of jinxing myself, both kidlets slept from 9:30 to 3:30 for the last 2 days. That means that for 2 nights in a row I have had 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. If this keeps up, I may even stop being sleep deprived by Christmas!

In other news, I think that when the hospital grade breast pump rental comes due I will be able to return it. Both kids now latch and eat right from the traditional spigot without a complaint. For the night feeding I bring each one into bed, which is by far the most comfortable place to nurse upstairs. B., the world’s heaviest sleeper, does not stir. This means that instead of getting up to pump, pour into a bottle, then feed, all I have to do is get up and feed. The only problem now is making enough to keep up with them.

My weight is down to 150 pounds; not bad for a woman who weighed 220 only 2 1/2 months ago!

2 Months 4 Days

Today was the kidlet’s 2 month check-up and first round of shots. They are both fine. The each frowned and the first shot, frowned much more vehemently at the second, and howled at the third. Nursing and a bottle quickly offered comfort, and by the time we were in the lobby J. was already asleep. They are now both quiet, J. is lying in his bassinet and F. is in the swing.

They are both growing, and have come from small (J.) and average (F.) to average and large for their ages.

Weights & Lengths

J:
Birth: 6 lbs. 8 oz. / 19 inches
1 Week: 6 lbs. 4 oz. / 19 inches
1 Month: 9 lbs. 6 oz. / 20 inches (30th percentile / 10th percentile)
2 Months: 11 lbs. 12 oz. / 22 3/4 inches (50th percentile / 50th percentile)

F:
Birth: 6lbs. 13 oz. / 20 inches
1 Week: 6 lbs 10 oz. / 19 inches
1 Month: 9lbs. 1 oz. / 20 inches (50th percentile / 30th percentile)
2 Months: 11 lbs. 10 oz. / 22 1/2 inches (75th percentile / 55th percentile)

I have a bunch of photos, but until my new laptop arrives (yay) I have to wait for B. to get them off the camera.
