Pediatrician’s Visit

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006 by Stacie

All was well at the pediatrician. J. howled more at being returned to the Car Seat of Doom ™ than he did at his shots.

I am feeling somewhat peeved that in order to send the kids to public school we will HAVE to get a chicken pox vaccine, even though the vaccine is less effective at creating immunity than actually getting the chicken pox. Oh yeah, and our pediatrician didn’t vaccinate his kids as babies against chicken pox. Arrghh.

They continue to grow:

Weights & Lengths

J.:
Birth: 6 lbs. 8 oz. / 19 inches
1 Week: 6 lbs. 4 oz. / 19 inches
1 Month: 9 lbs. 6 oz. / 20 inches (30th percentile / 10th percentile)
2 Months: 11 lbs. 12 oz. / 22 3/4 inches (50th percentile / 50th percentile)
4 Months: 14 lbs. 4 oz. / 25 3/4 inches (40th percentile / 60th percentile)

F.:
Birth: 6lbs. 13 oz. / 20 inches
1 Week: 6 lbs 10 oz. / 19 inches
1 Month: 9lbs. 1 oz. / 20 inches (50th percentile / 30th percentile)
2 Months: 11 lbs. 10 oz. / 22 1/2 inches (75th percentile / 55th percentile)
4 Months: 13 lbs. 12 oz. / 24 3/4 inches (50th percentile / 60th percentile)

Note that these percentiles are based on formula fed babies, not breastfed babies. The World Health Organization just came out with new charts for breastfed babies last summer, but I am far too lazy to look up the correct percentiles. In general, breastfed babies are leaner.

Developmental Update

J. turned over front to back yesterday, and F. has taken to sleeping 8 hours at a time at night (!!!). Not every night, mind you, but often enough.
