My Crazy New Year’s Resolution

Thursday, April 26th, 2007 by Stacie

lemon pieToday, because, really, I have far too much time on my hands, I am making this pie. I was going to make it yesterday but then I saw the “chill 4 hours” part of the instructions and put it off until I had more than 4 hours until dinner.

You see, I am insane. Have I mentioned that before? Well, I am. And for my New Year’s Resolution I decided I would make every Bon Appetit cover recipie. January was a roasted rack of lamb, which looked scary but turned out to be one of those recipies that is so incredibly easy it will be making an appearance every time lamb is on sale. February was just an upside down apple cake. Easy peasy. March was a pizza, which I haven’t made yet but as I make pizza all the time I don’t forsee any problems.

April, however, is a lemon meringue ice cream pie in toasted pecan crust. So far I have made the lemon curd part which came out pretty well, if I do say so myself (she says, licking the bowl). I’ve never had a problem with meringue, but that toasted pecan crust has me worried.

I’m also adding a slate walkway to my perennial bed. Because, as I think I mentioned before, I am insane.

Most Amusing Search Phrases

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007 by Stacie

I occasionally get hit by some weird Google searches.

sleep deprivation penis larger – Who puts those things all together and searches for them?

julia in leather pants – Huh?

plumber nightgown – I don’t want to know.

And for all of you who get here searching for things like “pregnancy labor starters”, “cant sleep pregnant labor”, “false labor contractions” or “pregnancy 39 weeks crying” I’ve been there. Nothing is going to jump start your labor. I tried walking, eating spicy food, sex. Nothing helped. It was miserable. But it ended. Yours will too.

Sunday Haiku

I picked up a new book today, Haiku Mama, and it is hilarious. I am going to share.

Great to be mama.
One crucial thing you miss, though:
closed-door pottying.

Weekend Blog Round Up

Saturday, April 21st, 2007 by Stacie

Amy at Double Delight has a letter to her sons. Today isn’t particularly special, she writes. It isn’t the anniversary of your births or even close to your birthday, in fact you’re 10months, 1 week and 2 days old so we’re right in the middle of the marked dates. Even so, today has been yet another one of those days where I have to pinch myself to make sure that I am awake and not dreaming.

Emmie at Better Make it a Double writes about how multiples often make it clear that our parenting choices have less impact on our kids than we’d like to think.

Shannon at Stream of Consciousness is struggling with sleep deprivation and has tried sleeping in shifts. It hasn’t worked. IS there a solution for early twin motherhood sleep deprivation? This topic has been on my mind this week as I suffer through frequent wakings.

After a premature labor scare, Poker Peaker’s girls are staying put.

Lynn at And Babies Make Six has entered a Mother’s Day Photo Contest. How about giving her a vote? UPDATE: She won! Yay.

Do you have a multiple’s blog? Do you want to be on the blogroll? Let me know.

Add your favorite post of the last week to the comments. Don’t be shy.
