- Nurse J. F stands in crib and looks petulant.
- Nurse F. J tosses and turns in crib.
- Read three stories to F. J seems to be out.
- Go to leave. J is not out. Both stand and stare balefully at me.
- Clean kitchen for 5 minutes while screaming varies in pitch from “hey” to “OHMYGOD YOU’VE ABANDONED ME FOREVER AND I AM GOING TO DIE HERE”
- Go back upstairs and soothe babies. Pats and nibbles from the breast while they stand in their cribs work.
- Babies start to giggle and look at one another.
- After a few minutes of giggling, J lies down and falls asleep.
- F reaches for me through her crib bars. She is being her most engaging, flirty self.
- Play with F through crib bars for about 5 minutes. She tugs on my hair. I nibble on her fingers. And so on.
- Nurse F lying down in my bedroom for about 3 minutes.
- Put her back in her own crib.
- Success.

You cleaned your kitchen for 5 minutes while there were sad babies in the house? If I had a discussion board, I would immediately have to throw you off it.
JK. Love the description. Also trying to get my head around the image of nibbling while standing in the crib. Love it.

OMG I wish.. tonights routine has gone something like this….
Usual time bath the boys, usual time fight with them to get dressed and give them their last bottle. Fight with them to drink the bottle instead of spraying it all over themselves and the bed. Dad takes Tommy to the nursery, mum lies on the bed with Nathan. Spend 45 minutes fighting with them to calm down (hyperactivity seems to be the order of the day right now). Eventually they bath doze off, I take Nathan and put him in his cot (now 7:15pm). As dad and I leave the room both boys sit up screaming. I managed to get Nathan to settle in the cot and he falls asleep. Dad tries to settle Tommy with little success. I try and finally get him to fall asleep (without holding him). As I leave the room he wakes up screaming. I lay him down gently and through clenched teeth shush him, he falls asleep. I come downstairs he starts to scream. I ignore him for 10 minutes until eventually feel my heart breaking at his screaming. I go upstairs, rinse and repeat….. we’re still trying and getting the same problem nearly 2 hours later.
