New Skills…
This weekend F learned to take off the teething rail from her crib. The side rail already looks like a crazed wolverine has been at it. I’ve now put a gummi rail OVER the plastic rail. Get that off, Missy!
Oh, and both kids are now climbing on furniture. The rocking chair? Check. The armchair? Check. One foot on the arm of the toddler-sized rocker-chair, one foot on the back, reaching for the windowsill? Check. One foot on the backrest of the walker wagon, hands on the gate, reaching to climb over the gate? Check.
This learning thing, it’s good. Right? Right?

The learning thing is good but I imagine you’re up and running keeping up with their new skills.

Oh my goodness, what smart (and parent exhausting) children they are becoming! I didn’t know mine could climb stairs until yesterday, the first time I let them near stairs. Looks like the fun will just keep coming!

Oh, man….I bet you don’t get a break at all during the day — or night!
Someday it’ll all be worth it. Right? Right?

And then you have those awful moments where one is on the tottering chair and the other is half in the garbage bin and you don’t know which one to yank out first…
Yeah, the learning stuff is good. It’s difficult for you, but it’s good.

My daughter never learned to climb until she was about 2. I banned children who could climb from my house in case she learned that the ottoman blocking the hallway wasn’t an insurmountable barrier.
I am hoping that my boys will be similarly obtuse. Since they are not even looking faintly like crawling at 8 months, that hope may be fulfilled.

OMG! You guys are scaring me!! One in the garbage bin and the other on a tottering chair????
My stomach can’t take the thought.

RIGHT? RIGHT!! Go with RIGHT! Just think they should be out of this phase in a couple years. Gulp.

I think I see furniture diving in your near future. M.’s been doing that for months now. She’ll climb onto the ottoman, her chair, toy box, whatever, and then launch herself onto the nearest piece of furniture (i.e. couch, loveseat, her chair, etc). She has missed a few times, and I’ve found her stuck in between the two items. Thankfully, she’s not been hurt and I usually find her laughing her head off.
