First Word
I think F may have said her first word tonight. Even “Mama” and “Dada” have been a little questionable up until now. Sure, she says them, but I don’t have any confirmation that they mean me and B given when she says them, which would be randomly.
She looked up from her bedtime nursing and said “Guh.” Several times. I turned to B and said, “Is she trying to say ‘good’”? “I don’t know,” he replied, “but she’s certainly trying to say something.”
“Are you trying to say ‘good’, honey?” I asked. She said it again, nursed more, said it again. And, just as I was getting all sentimental that she had said her first contextual word, she got up and wandered off.
Does she think nursing is good? That my breasts are God? That she’d reached her goal? Does she want a goat? I know it was a word. What word is a little trickier.

Oh yes, we go through this with Becca too. And she gets so upset when we don’t know what she means or can’t understand what she’s trying to tell us. Congrats on the first word, whatever it means!

So sweet! I vote you can count it as “good” b/c who doesn’t like boob juice? Well, which babies, not us. You know what I mean…

How sweet! First words are amazing.
J says “gah”but as far as we can tell it means, “I am about to knock over this tower of blocks” because that’s the only context he uses it in.
Sarah says “dat” all the time, but we often don’t know what she means. And she gets more and more emphatic, “dat, dat, dat” while we start picking up things going, “you want this? this? this?” Today it turned out she wanted my cereal bowl. Go figure.

I am going with the goat. F. strikes me as a goat-fancier. In the nicest possible way, of course.

Well, my goodness, Stacie - it’s so simple. She was nursing, and saw God. So there you go.

It’s so obvious. She wants a goat.

I haven’t checked, but I doubt we are zoned for goats so I think she will have to be dissappointed in her quest for farm animals.

How totally adorable. When I worked at a nursery, I wondered how moms knew what the heck those little ones were saying. Now I know that they didn’t always know

How cute! Maybe she’s congratulating you for a job well done.
