St. Paul hit the nail on the head when he said, To the pure all things are pure, but to the impure nothing is pure (Ti 1:15). It is a tragically impure world that labels the purity of a baby at the breast as "gross." For those with the purity to see it, a nursing mother is one of the most precious, most beautiful, and most holy of all possible images of woman. (source)

Holy Cow, that is the cutest hat I’ve ever seen! We only got ice here…

Those are beautiful, portfolio worthy photos. And I agree, the hat is insanely cute.

Oh wow, they are gorgeous. I really like the work you did on his photo, it turned out beautifully!
What settings do you use to take pictures in the snow and get them to turn out?

What gorgeous photos! But … snow. My pet hate. I am so pleased I managed to extract my husband from a cold, snowy bit of the US and brought him here where it’s temperate.

Beautiful pictures! They are growing up so fast! What kind of camera do you have again?
December 14th, 2007 13:42
The camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XTi with a 50mm/1.8 lens.
The picture of J was shot at ISO 400 f/1.8 and a shutter speed of 1/125. It is overexposed but I decided I liked the drama of the white face, white snow and black jacket. I did tweak the levels to make the black blacker.
The picture of F was shot at ISO 400 f/4.5 and a shutter speed of 1/60. I am amazed she is in focus at all (and she is a bit soft) with a shutter speed that slow but that is why the snow appears as little lines of white. That’s how far the snow moved while I was taking that picture.

Oh - and the hat is Zutano.

oh how I wish you could come to my house and take pictures of my two. The only shots I get are crazy faces. Perhaps that’s because they have crazy faces
who knows?! but how adorable are your two?! They look like “big kids”

Gorgeous!
December 16th, 2007 17:20
Wow, again wow! I can’t believe you took them out in the snow and still had the presence of mind to take beautiful photo’s!
Is this the first time? Do they enjoy it? I only ask because we may get the first winter snow before we leave for a month in the sun and I may be persuaded to take the boys out into the white stuff if you can show me the way

Gorgeous! I especially like the second one (and the hat!!) - thanks for the rundown on how you took them: I’m still learning all the ins and outs of speed and f stops and what not, so it’s great to have the explainations of how you got the final result!
