My mother is going to be here on Monday so we are going to take both kids since we will have the proper adult/child ratio. I will suss out the program and find out if I can manage both kids at once and if I feel that I can I will bring them both on my own and see what happens.

That is so wrong. Another blog I read also featured a mom of twins being unwelcome at the library because she had a double stroller. She wrote a letter and everything and still get no satisfaction. itstwinsanity.blogspot.com

I really strongly feel that it’s a parent’s RIGHT to bring their children anywhere they want to go and a parent’s RESPONSIBILITY to make sure their children are both comfortable and well cared for in that situation as well as not disruptive to to others.

In this case, I would guess that the library had too many parents who didn’t live up to their RESPONSIBILITY to make sure their kids were not being a nuisance, and so they decided to arbitrarily take away everyone’s RIGHTS to be there with more than one child at a time. BAD, BAD, BAD, way of managing the situation on the part of the library.

That makes me really angry!!

They can’t actually keep you from going in the library can they? You just can’t go to toddler time, right? So go just before and maybe they’ll see how well behaved the kids are and let them stay. Or not.

That first one, I find AMAZING. We have a different but similar problem at our library, where you’re not allowed to bring out-of-age-group children to an age-group event. Which on one hand I totally agree with: I don’t really want 6-year-olds running around during Baby Booktime, either. But you’re not allowed to bring a lap-baby (I love that term) to a toddler group, either.

That’s really pissy that you can’t even take the kids to the library — the library that you are supporting with your tax dollars.

We had the same problem with Gymboree when I called to see about classes. Basically were told we weren’t welcome unless we brougt our nanny. Which, you know, we don’t have. But the library!?! I’m pissed for you.

Is it time for a protest? How can a PUBLIC library discriminate against those with more than one child? Paid for by YOUR tax dollars?

Sounds like an ideal time to get together with some moms from the local twins/multiples group and head on over to the library.
