- Decide where you want the picture to be, take out your camera and meter the light.
- Place toddler in selected spot.
- Retrieve toddler from top of bookshelf and return to selected spot.
- Get lollipop from cupboard.
- Put toddler back in selected spot and give her lollipop.
- Wipe lollipop smear from toddler’s face, top of bookshelf, and fur of cat.
- Get out bubbles.
- Return toddler to selected spot and blow bubbles to keep him interested.
- Stop to mop up spilled bubble liquid.
- Light has moved. Pick new spot and meter.
- Put a basket in new spot.
- Put toddler in basket.
- Retrieve toddler from behind chair where he is playing with the outlet.
- Remind self that you do NOT want a call from preschool in which the teacher inquires where your child learned to say those words.
- Put brand new toy in basket along with toddler.
- Throw broken toy away, retrieve toddler from kitchen where he is eating cat food.
- Consider putting bowl of cat food where the light is good. Reject this idea.
- Sew velco to butt of toddler pants and onto pillow. Place child on pillow where light is good.
- Remove pillow from child’s behind and re-stuff with something heavier. Reattach child.
- By now the light is gone.
- Put camera away, pour self drink.

Yep, this is definitely my favorite post of yours of ALL TIME. Every day I wonder how you get your toddlers to pose so nicely for the xti. Now I know. : )

This is exactly how my attempts go as well. And, it’s barely worth trying to shoot a picture with both of them at the same time.

22. Not be so anal next time and just take the damn picture.
P.S. Stacie, Friday I’m going to post a video of my twins! I worked on it yesterday. You should check it out.

Very funny…. and so true.

And that’s just for one child.
And why reject 17? Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

OK, so maybe not catfood in a bowl, what about goldfish crackers?
Although weighting diapers sounds good, too. I love your list! Right now I’m lucky my two can’t go anywhere yet. Although Emma is trying. Is 4 months too early to learn how to scoot around? She says she’s got places to go. Mostly over THERE.

you take the most beautiful photos! i am in awe. my twins (14 months) would remove themselves from the bookshelf and ignore bubbles, outlets, and cat food…to get that camera! they want the camera! i can’t take one stinking photo of them! you’ve inspired me though. trying velcro.

Bwahahahahahaha!!! I love it!

Rofl! That sums it up pretty good. I hate taking my kids in for professional pictures because it is like herding cats.

This post describes why we stopped the monthly chair pictures. I would get migraines trying to snap one photo. One!

Very funny. I’m still waiting for your next post: how to take a picture of two toddlers.

Very funny and very true, there have been times when I have taken a hundred shots and not one of them has been perfect. I have resorted to Photoshop to create my fantasy family picture.
