Jane’s Addiction

Thursday, January 24th, 2008 by Stacie

J was messing around with the radio and it ended up on a rock station. Jane’s Addiction’s Been Caught Stealing came on. F promptly began bopping around with great enthusiasm. All this time I’ve been playing Putomayo world music for children and what she really likes is 90s rock.

Oh….FUCK!

Our Current Favorite Toddler Books

Thursday, January 24th, 2008 by Stacie

These are our current favorite books (and thus are highly recommended for people with kids in this 18-month age range):

What are yours? Because, you know, I have a book problem in that I love them and buy them and have them everywhere and am always looking for more. Bookshelves are in perpetual short supply in any house in which I live. I am passing this problem on. When F has trouble falling asleep I can give her a board book to look through and she “reads” until she falls asleep.

Whining About Petty Things

  • The recently reopened and totally renovated local library, only a few blocks away, requires one parent or caregiver per child for Toddler Time. That’s right. If you had the gall to have more than one child you are just out of luck unless you can afford to hire a mother’s helper to come to the library with you. (This is only for the organized Toddler Time. I can, of course, bring the kids to the library. Just not to the activity.)
  • On a message board if you see a post labeled “graphic: may be disturbing” and you open it you will get no sympathy from me if you promptly complain that it is graphic and disturbing.
  • If you use up the last of the aluminum foil and don’t mention it to the person who does the grocery shopping that person won’t know to get any more and will be out of luck when it comes to heating his or her dinner.

Happy Contests

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 by Stacie

There is a great contest at Oh! Baby Buy Products that includes giveaways of See Kai Run shoes (which I adore) and Babylegs.

You can win a free (very cute) onesie at Blonde Mom Blog. It is too small for my giants but I know people who could use a very cute gift!

Another cute giveaway is at Seven Dogs and a Baby; this one is for fingerless gloves.

There is a contest for organic baby onesies at Great Green Baby.
