Drinking the Montessori Kool-Aid, Day 1
I was a bit worried that the kids, particularly J, wouldn’t adjust to school. That worry was wasted energy. Today was their first preview day at school and to say they took to it is an understatement. After all, there was a sink! A very small low sink just the right size for a toddler to use! Both were very excited to play with the water, to pour the water from one container to another, even to use the child sized mop to mop the water up from the floor.
They were so soaked I left them with the Directress (Montessori-speak for teacher) and went back to the car to get the diaper bag and with it their spare shirts. When I returned I watched them through the one-way mirror. They hadn’t even noticed I was gone and were having a wonderful time.
They have another preview day next Friday and then they start the following Monday.

Sounds wonderful! Mine were much younger when they started, but the first month for us had its ups and downs. At first I thought my J was adjusting perfectly, but then he had a week of crying every time I left. I hope the transition continues to go great for F&J!

mmmm kool-aid… I left mine with the babysitter today. we’ll see if she beats daycare. Less people to lick so i’m not sure C will be a fan. Congrats to your almost freedom!

I’m glad it went so well. It took my son two months to adjust to me leaving him at preschool every morning! It was awful! We start Montessori in August, so I’m keeping fingers crossed that the transition will be easier since he should be used to being in a program by then.
