Worst. Diaper. Ever.

Monday, April 28th, 2008 by Stacie

The poop filled her diaper. It overflowed up and down her pants. I removed the diaper - a pull up, of course - and she stepped in it, thus taking out her socks. She sat on my lap, getting my pants. Her shirt got stuck to her back, and it got covered in poop as well. She got poop on her hand then patted my hair and shirt with said filthy hand. I should have just hosed her off.

After this I sat them both on their potties. J peed a wee bit in the potty (a first) and I took it away along with the pile of laundry and the diaper from hell. After respectively cleaning, putting in laundry and tossing those things I brought the potty back out and J, still naked from the waist down, looked at it and peed a TREMENDOUS amount right next to it. I tried to move the potty to at least catch some of the stream to no avail.

Fun times.

Back Surgery Update

Monday, April 28th, 2008 by Stacie

Brian has made it home and is doing fine. Today was his first visit with the local rehab facility which agreed that he was being handled very conservatively by the hospital rehab and that he can be pushed a little more; he spent most of the afternoon asleep after said pushing. He will be going back to have his ass kicked by them twice a week for a while with the goal of getting him back to work as soon as possible. He was told to expect it to take a year to totally heal.

We are going back to see the surgeon for another follow-up appointment tomorrow. I should have more details after that.

One Small Step for Potty…

Sunday, April 27th, 2008 by Stacie

F peed in the potty today. She tugged at her diaper and announced “poo poo”, sat on the potty while her father read “Once Upon a Potty” to her several times, and peed!

What Can I Say, the Boy Has Taste

Sunday, April 27th, 2008 by Stacie

This morning J took this godawful CD that sings these dreadful songs and inserts F’s name everywhere via multi-track editing out of the stereo and replaced it with a Duke Ellington CD.

Sheep and Wool Festival

Saturday, April 26th, 2008 by Stacie

We went to a sheep and wool festival today where the kids pet sheep and even a bunny. We didn’t touch the alpacas because they were making that cooing noise that means “unhappy alpaca.” I resisted the urge to buy more wool and am trying to figure out when I can find time to start spinning again this summer. (Yes, there is an extra child, not mine, wearing a blue sweater, in these pictures.)
