Yesterday and Today

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 by Stacie

Yesterday I had a camera decide to stop working. I think (hope) it needs a new battery, but the error message is opaque and can mean anything from (and, yes, I looked it up) “you need a new battery” to “your camera is hosed”.

My scanner stopped working. The printer portion still works, but scanning those “we’ve sent you a PDF form to print, fill in, scan and email back to us because we are too stupid to make interactive forms” just got a wee bit more complicated. And scanning in model releases, well, let’s not talk about that.

Also, two clients seem horrified I expect them to actually pay for their pictures and that if they don’t do so promptly I will simply delete the files. Why, exactly, am I supposed to host content they can’t be bothered with I am not sure.

The skin cream I use, which has been on sale, went OFF sale while I was at the park.

Both kids wet the bed during nap. This does not do good things to the laundry pile.

Then I got some kind of contact dermatitis at the park and thought it might be poison ivy as a naturalist there had warned me it was bad this year. Apparently it was some OTHER irritating plant though, as the itchy rash went away overnight and I’m fairly sure poison ivy lasts longer than a few hours.

Today the kids had their 4-year well child check ups. 3 shots. Fun times.

This week is not shaping up well.

Sucks

Monday, June 28th, 2010 by Stacie

The cat has a cyst. May be cancer. We are, oddly enough, opting out of spending thousands of dollars to torture the old cat with surgery and chemo.

Someone stole my parasol at the park today. I took the kids to meet some other photographers and while we were hanging out some random person saw my vintage, lace parasol and thought “I’ll take that.”

I spend the bulk of my waking hours cleaning or child wrangling, often at the same time. My soul is sucked dry.

I have a toenail fungus, thanks to the local pedicure place.

I keep getting rejected from juried shows.

I’m in a big funk. Send chocolate and time please.

The best of the lot

I bought a bubble machine. Enlisted Brian’s help. Planned the shoot for the best time of day when the light is perfect. The weather was good. Therefore, naturally, the children were non-cooperative.
