Rules:
- Link to a post or picture of your child. PLEASE either have the post be just a picture or put the picture at the top of the post.
- One picture per entry - if there are multiple pictures in your post I will remove the entry because I just can’t tell which picture you mean. Think “This woman is an idiot” and link accordingly.
- You have to own the copyright to the picture.
- Link back to this page. (If you don’t link to this page you won’t win even if you have the most votes. You have to link to win.)
- Deadline for entry is June 21.
- There will be a voting poll up from June 21 - July 7 ish. The picture with the most votes wins. Each IP address gets one vote.

The rules stated that the picture with the most votes win. There was no restriction against voting multiple times though next time I am going to try to set it up so that each person can only vote once per day.
TC and KC’s friends and family ended up in a sort of bidding war. (KC had over 8,000 votes.) I presume friends and family voted, hit back, voted again, hit back and so on. The page views for the voting period don’t suggest that anyone wrote a script to just bombard polldaddy with data and cheat.

Because I’m apart of a birth board that just had babies and we’re up at all hours of the day, so naturally we can nurse and vote our butts off at the same time. Not to mention I had some Myspace friends who live in other timezones who did the same. Plus I have a teenage daughter who sat on the phone with her friends and they voted too. The runner up had over 8200 (via help from her blog friends, birth board, and family). So its not impossible to do that. Both sides were having fun doing this contest. She thought hers were the cutest as did we about ours.
P.S. I even tossed in a few votes for other pictures that were submitted and I thought was cute.

I had the same thought as “questioning” and think it’s really silly and inappropriate for those that prompted votes in that manner. I for one, will not be entering any more contests on this blog. And for gods sake, it’s for $10!!!!

OK, Mandy. Be that way about it.
You didn’t link back to the contest, which you were required to do according to the rules. Even had I decided not to count either TC or KC you would still not have won. You would not have come in second. You would not have come in third. There were 12 photos (again, not counting TC’s or KC’s) that had more votes than yours. And yet, you still got an honorable mention because of the quality of your shot. Perhaps you should try being happy with that instead of whining that it wasn’t appropriate for other entrants to solicit votes from family and friends.

Just saw the second part of your comment (after I sent you a personal email). And it had nothing to do with placing in the contest. I didn’t even know that I placed when I wrote it. It wasn’t a matter of me being happy with placing or not…..I just don’t feel that it was fair to all the other contestants, what those two did………

Mandy hun. After KC and I friends and family took over it took on a whole new meaning for them. It wasn’t about the $10 anymore once we both hit the 500’s. So don’t try to belittle either of us like we NEEDED the prize. It was a contest, we broke no rules. It was very fair. Just because YOU and your friends and family didn’t vote excessively doesn’t mean we had to tone ours down to suit you.
I actually thought your picture was one of the greater ones. And I could see why it got a honorable mention. But your attitude towards KC and I about a mere online photo contest kinda saddens me because I actually put a few votes in your box along with other friends of mine. And right now you seem snobbish and ungrateful. I’m quite sure that if you don’t enter anymore, Stacie’s site will still flourish and the contests will still go on.

How sad that a light-hearted (though quite meaningless) contest has reduced a bunch of mommies to arguing about what is and is not a legitimate voting system. So typical. I mean no disrespect when I say this but, who really cares? 8 votes or 8,000 votes is a wasteful argument. Maybe we should spend less time online, our backs to our babes, neurotically clicking votes for our own cute kids, and instead take those cute kids down to a local women and children’s shelter to volunteer for the less fortunate. What a sad and sorry spiral…

I’m new to this so forgive me if this has already been said… But shouldn’t each person only be allowed to vote once total. That is truly the only ‘fair’ way to vote. Otherwise it’s less about the photo and more about who can get the most people to spend their time clicking.

Last time there was a lot of revoting - if you go back and read the old comments you’ll see that two people got really into it and ended up with 8,000+ and 10,000+ votes. People were really upset about that so I got a different poll program to try out. This one lets each person only vote once, or rather, each computer can only vote once (or I can set it to not log and everyone can vote as many times as they want but that turned out badly last time). You can vote from your home computer and from your work computer but once you have voted once, that’s it. I wanted to be able to set it to the “once per day” rule that seems standard on the Internet but I couldn’t find a plugin I liked that did that.

Lisa, if you and your husband are sharing a connection of any sort, you are probably only projecting one IP - my husband and I share a wireless connection via an airport base station and thus he too cannot vote.
